Website monitoring

Website monitoring that tells you why, not just when

Monitorizer opens your pages every minute like a visitor would. It times each step of the request, reads the certificate and the domain, and looks for signs of a hack, so a broken page reaches you before it reaches your client.

  • Checks every minute
  • Confirmed twice before any alert
  • SSL and domain expiry included

Everything a website check should catch

A 200 answer is not enough. A site can answer and still be broken, slow, about to expire or hacked.

Uptime and answer codes

No answer, a 5xx error or an unexpected 4xx counts as down. You can accept specific codes for pages that should answer differently.

Speed, step by step

Every check times DNS, connection, TLS, first byte and download. When a page is slow, the alert names the step to blame, so you know whether to call the host or look at the code.

SSL certificate and domain expiry

The certificate is read at every check and the domain's expiry date once a day. Alerts come 14 days, 7 days and right before either one runs out.

Hack and defacement alerts

Text that must never appear (a casino link, a hacker's signature) is critical the moment it shows up. You can also be alerted whenever the visible text of a page changes.

Pages that answer but are broken

Add a word that only appears when the page works, such as “Add to cart”. A page that answers 200 with an error message then counts as down.

APIs and health endpoints

Read one field of a JSON answer, such as status.healthy, and compare it to the value you expect.

Made for the sites you are responsible for

Agencies and freelancers

Group sites by client, get a picture of the page when it fails as proof, and send a monthly PDF report.

Online shops

Watch the home page, a product page and checkout, with a word that proves each one really works.

WordPress sites

Catch the white screen after an update, an expiring certificate and the injected spam that hacked sites show.

Set up in three steps

  1. 1

    Paste the address

In the Mac app or on the website, paste the page to watch, with https://.

  2. 2

Add a word to look for

Optional but recommended: a word that only appears when the page works.

  3. 3

    Get alerted

On your Mac and in Slack, Discord, Teams, Telegram, ntfy, Pushover or a webhook.

Questions

How often are websites checked?

Every minute by default, or at the interval you choose. A failed check is tried again before it counts, and an alert is only sent once the problem is confirmed, so a single network blip does not wake you up.

Does it monitor SSL certificates?

Yes. The certificate is read at every check: you are alerted 14 days and 7 days before it expires, and when it does. An invalid certificate counts as down.

Can it detect that my website was hacked?

It catches the visible signs: text that must never appear on the page (any match is critical), a page whose visible text changes, and a redirect to another domain. It does not scan the server for malware; a server monitor can alert you when files such as wp-config.php change.

Where do the checks run?

On your Mac, from your own connection. Your monitors stay on your Mac unless you sign in to see them on the website too.

Is website monitoring free?

There is a free plan to start. Paid plans add more monitors and shorter intervals: see the pricing on the home page.
